I have a stock 1984 4 cylinder that I was wondering, is there a market for this little motor? The reason I'm gonna sell it is a 258 will take its place. What is a fair price?

Thanks for any input.

Motor 1,
To be honest with you, probably not. If you happen across someone that is restoring one to stock, you might get $50.00 for it. That is, if they're too far from someone that is giving one away. Heck, you can pick up a free - $100.00 258 on here if you don't mind a drive. If you don't have a kid you want to teach to rebuild one, maybe donate it to the local High School shop. don't do it!!!!

Don't waste your money swapping a 258 for the 4 banger...you are not making a wise decision. Go ahead and find yourself a 4.0L jeep engine with low mileage and complete fuel injection. Or, since you have the tranny with the chevy bellhousing, i would go and get a chevy 4.3 vortec engine. The 258 is a good engine, but why not modernize right from the start. You would gain far more power and reliablity as well as economy with either of these choices.
