another tranny question

I have an '81 Scrambler. Chev 283 and SR4 tranny. 4.10 gears. So far, the trans has held up for over 60,000 miles.

Knowing I have the Chevy engine and Dana 300 transfer case, what would be the best, least expensive, and easiest transmission to put in.

Don't care about overdrive, don't care to have the lowest possible first gear ratio.

Doesn't have to be a manual, I have a perfectly good Turbo 350 trans in the garage.

Thanks for the input.

I have a 350 chevy motor and the Th 350 behind it. Right now I am running an NP205, but plan to switch over to the 300. The adapter is about 400 dollars at Novak and I think a bit more from advance adapters, but you will need one to mate the 350 to the dana 300. I love the auto 350 and have had no problems with it yet.

...Oh yeah, I run 4.10s and 36in super swampers, so it will handle the abuse.

Hey thanks. After I posted my question I went and looked up the adapter prices. JEEZ!! $400 + bucks?!

With the Turbo 350, will the transfer case be moved from original position necesitating two new drivelines?
