EGR Question!!... need some help!

Scrambler Pilot
Howdy,
Ive had a Weber 32/36 carb on my 258 for about a year now. I havent ever had the EGR port/valve (whatever its called) hooked up. Like on top of my valve cover there is the PCV in the front and the EGR in the back... That is correct isnt it? Well I have the PCV hooked up but the EGR isnt hooked to anything. Where does the EGR hose hook up too? I have a hose connected to it but its just facing towards the ground and spits out som oil. Ive tried to find the answer to this before but, never could.
So, Does anyone know?
Thanks alot,
Kendal

WOW!!!!!
Thanks for the link . Its the BEST smog details Ive ever seen!

:D

This should be linked to the home page or the factory page. Its toooooo good to lose!!

hey

Howdy,
Thanks alot for the link. That sure shows what I know. I guess someone told me somewhere down the line that that was my EGR?.. Ohh well.. I dont have the EGR on my motor then. Most everything has been pulled off of this motor by the owner before me. From what I get from that write-up is that the Rear PCV Breather tube should be sucking in air? Correct? Mine is blowing air out...

Thanks again,
Kendal

PCV Valve

Kendal,
Read this copy of my previous post, same symptoms as yours:

PCV Valve/Oil Leak
I just discovered some interesting info recently. My '83 had such bad blow by that the previous owner disconnected the intake hose from the air cleaner to the valve cover. This hose was rerouted below the engine compartment, and blew smoke while the engine was running. Well I finally got around to checking it out and found that the PCV valve wasn't functioning properly. But, not because it was bad. It seems that Jeep installed a solenoid valve inline between the PCV valve and the manifold vacuum. This solenoid valve was bad, causing the engine to relieve the pressure through the vent tube. I removed the solenoid valve and all my problems went away. This valve was later deleted by Jeep from the system, they actually had a emission recall to replace it. Somehow mine was missed. Anyhow, another way to check the valve is to pull the PCV valve from the valve cover while the engine is idling, it should die or run real bad. Sorry for the long post, but it took quite a bit of research to discover this simple problem. Good luck.

hey

Hey man,
The in-line solenoid.. I'm sure that I dont have that. All of the hoses on my motor are new. I dont think that that was on there when i took it apart anyways. Thanks alot for that post. I know that my PCV valve is good because I bought a new one. Im just needing to know where what to hook those two hoses up too...

Thanks alot for the reply,
Kendal

Lets see if this answers your question.
on my valve cover the rear port conects to the Air filter.
The rear port conects to a port on the back rear of the carb, I am still running the stock carb. I would assume that the weber would have a similar port.
