Has anyone had experience with the need to run a coolant bypass on SBC swaps when using Vortec heads? Vortec heads have coolant passages both front and rear where as Gen 1 SBC's have only a front passage in many of the intake manifolds, even ones for Vortec heads. Due to this, I am reading a bit about folks with cooling issues where they will see sudden or erratic temperature spikes.
To resolve this, the recommendation is to install a coolant bypass from the water pump to the intake manifold.
Flowcooler has an article on it, plus there are tons of posts on the Interwebs. Just curious if anyone has experienced this before.
