Need: Dana 30 Caliper brackets!

Hi Folks,

I am in desperate need of a pair (left and right) of disc brake caliper brackets, for my Dana 30 front axle.

My Jeep is an '81, so I swapped out to later model, wide-trac axles. The darn D30 I bought didn't come with these brackets, so I need to find a set! These are the two-hole versions that bolt to the knuckle, and the caliper actually bolts to the caliper brackets.

Does anyone have a source for these? I've tried every salvage yard in north Texas, searched online for the past 2-hours, and still nothing! :banghead:

Can someone direct me to a source? Need the pair of brackets, plus all 4 of the main mounting bolts.

Many thanks!

Nevermind, but thanks anyway! I just found them online at a Jeep salvage yard in California!

Found them here (and I have no affiliation): http://www.jwjeep.com

Take care,

Does anyone have a link for a very detailed diagram of the Dana 30 brake setup? I have three Haynes manuals, and they all have the same (non-detailed) photos.

I finally got my caliper brackets, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what parts I am missing to actually mount the darn calipers to the brackets? The calipers have the two large, allen-head bolts in them...but I am missing some part (or O'Reilly's sold me the wrong calipers)...I don't have anything to bolt the calipers to?! :banghead:

I am at such a loss, since I am now using a Dana 30 WT axle (BOM number crosses to an '86 model axle), whereas I was using a narrow trak before, and those parts are different.....

Hate to sound like a dumba$$, but I could sure use some help. I've searched the archives, and Google searched this for hours. I can't seem to find a good diagram of ALL the caliper parts. And when I find photos of what shows to be the correct calipers for an '86, mine look identical...but again, I must be missing something that these bolt to.

EDIT: I must have received the wrong caliper brackets? Mine ONLY have two holes in them, and these two holes actually bolt the caliper achor (bracket) to the spindle. There are no other holes in it for the caliper bolts.????????????????????????????

MANY thanks!

It does sound like you got the 2 hole narrow track brackets. You can find some more detailed drawings here in the FSM's and Parts manuals. The 82 manual uses pictures that are not so clear, but the 84 and 85-86 manuals use drawings that my M.R.252 manual has that are clearer.

Here is a picture I found that shows the caliper bracket that looks to be like mine on WT front axle.

Thank you, 4 Miles. That's what I was thinking too, and I greatly appreciate the photo to clarify. What threw me was that I specified an 86 Jeep to the Jeep wrecking yard in California. Oh well, maybe someone here on the forum will need these brackets.
CJ Jim, would you happen to have brackets like the photo above?

This is fun stuff (building this Jeep) but with so many parts swaps (versus original) it sometimes gets tough without a visual reference. I appreciate the links and the photo.

Thanks to CJ Jim for having the correct brackets I need!
CJ Jim, PayPal $$$ sent!

Again, thanks
