Jim, that looks easier than getting the grinder out. I will grab them when I get the trans cross member.
 
By the way, i picked up the XJ e-brake handle today. Should work out great. Add this work to the list.
 
Here is the XJ parking brake handle that I got last weekend. I need to see how to get it to work on the CJ

OK. So after cutting my steering column, I need a replacement. Please chime in with recommendations. Thanks.
 
I recently bought a rebuilt one from Columns Galore. I think it was almost $400.00 and another $425.00 for core charge. That will make you send the core back.

Ok. Thanks. That is one end of the spectrum. And yes, ai would definitely send the core back. Can it be cut in half?

I will call you tomorrow Jim. I may want to upgrade, but I may want to stay within my budget too. If I use a stock one, I will need the bottom knuckle as my seal was shot on the one I cut and took off.
 
Yes the core had to be reusable and sent back in the same box but they did send a prepaid return label. I suggest getting one locally or from a forum member if possible. I just wanted to know I was getting one rebuilt like new.
 
I think you meant steering shaft, not column. I fell for the marketing and did the Borgeson 0920 with the vibration damper. I may have mentioned it when I was there, but the only issue with it is you have to be sure to paint it. It will rust. Of course, you should set it to the length you need before you paint it as you may not be able to afterwards. You will also have to make a new flat spot on the spindles as you aren't supposed to use the factory ones. I can help you with that if you need it.

BTW, zr10054 I did Columns Galore as well and it's worked fine mechanically since. Only small nitpick is the outer casing was probably only an 8 out of 10 and I will probably repaint when I do the frame off.

I agree the column was fine but the primer was trash but I'm repainting the whole Jeep anyway.
 
I just removed a steering shaft from a 1980 CJ7 w/ power steering... if you need it, let me know.
I assume you are using power steering?
The rear would more than likely need a new boot and parts/pieces, but it is pretty simple to rebuild.
