What is this hole in the doors?

I have this hole in both my doors. It is ~ 1/4" . What are they for?

Your supposed to have a plug in those holes not sure what they are actually for tho

Are those the rust proofing holes? I know they put 2 in the windshield frames with plugs when they did the Rusty Jones treatment.

My doors have them too. There doesn't seem to be in rust proofing stuff in the them. They do have a plastic plug in them though.
