12/24V Remote Starter Switch

Anyone use / using a hand held remote starter that could start a 258.
I have never used one.
Are they difficult to hook up - and any particular brands you look at (is it as easy as getting one at Harbor Freight)?

Most probably can start a 258. My brother has a small one that will start his 6.0 diesel. I have 1 can't remember the brand though sorry.

Good to know -
I was looking at one and the dude said it would not work - but could not explain why.
Would you know much about how you hook em up? Looks like they have two wires I’m assuming one goes to the battery and would it be fair to say that the other would probably go to the starter motor?

It’s literally just 2 wires and a push button switch so I can’t imagine there being much difference between brands

For a 258 you would hook up one wire to the positive terminal of the battery, and the other one to the solenoid. By energizing the solenoid that will engage the starter. You don’t want to hook up directly to the starter because the wires and switch can’t handle that kind of current.

This will turn the starter and crank it but if you actually want the car to start you need to have the key in the “on” position or also run power to the ignition
