I sacrificed a 9/16 wrench for that fitting. Had to cut it down and I think bend it. Its in my "odds and ends" toolbox now, hopefully never to see the light of day again.
I dont have an opinion but I do have a set that have been floating around my shed. I think they are the "Bomb Proof" ones. You can have them if wanted. I'll take a picture today. Never used them and given my current situation, I have no need for them.

I am a big fan of the "stock" look and would worry about creating a forced look given the difference in the dimensions. But as John N said, you are building it for you, not for me.
