Hi all!! I just picked up an '81, 304, 4 speed scrambler. My first jeep was this '77 CJ 5, with the T18 tranny, and totally shot suspension. Usually a couple times a trip, I'd be swapping the rear u joint.

My next one was many years later, a '08 JKUR, built to run 38.5" boggers and swampers. Worked great, except for all the computer glitches and nannies. Then this happened.

So I put it out to all my jeep buddies that I wanted a scrambler. And luckily, one of them came thru for me!!

I got it for $5g, not even sure if it was running or not! I dragged it home, threw in a rad from my other saved CJ parts, filled her up, threw in a new battery, and whew!! She fired up!! She blew kibble a and bits all over the driveway!! ;) She'd been sitting in a barn for several years, so the mice had been packing the exhaust up.

Again, I put out the word that I wanted a doubler, and wound up with the NWF doubler, the triple stick, and the 203/205's for a grand.

I picked front and rear D60's for it, for $600, and then realized I'd gotten a non full float rear, so again, another buddy hooked me up with a 14 bolt, with discs for $200. I'm also picking up a 401, with a TH400 for the power plant. The plan is 38-42" tire's, detroits, with 5.38's, and mainly a trailer queen. With some bootin around town with my kids of course!! I also got a second scrambler frame with this, and I have plans in the future for that one!! More of a trail/travel rig!

Glad to have found this site, there's so much cool info here, and a good group of people! Oh, and the checker plate is gonna be gone!!

Looks like a solid starter for a nice build. Holy smokes man.... Details on the fire????

Honestly, not sure why she went up! The muddy pic is the weekend before, I'd had to pull the rad out to clean it, cleaned out the engine bay, put it back together, was supposed to load it and go out that weekend, and I took it to work, just to see how she was running. Coming down a hill, I saw flames spout out thru the hood louver, and got it in the ditch in time to watch it burn to the ground. And I'm still fighting with insurance.

Dang that stinks.... Makes a really cool pic though. Scrambler looks great, can't wait to see the progress!

was the JKU an auto? think there was an issue with the auto leaking atf on the exhaust, then BBQ!!

6 speed manual. Not sure why mine went up in flames like she did. There's been 6 in Alberta this summer alone that went up in flames like this.

Picked up my fresh, 8 year old rebuilt 401, and TH400. Waiting on my 14 bolt rear end.

As a lifetime stick driver, anyone have suggestions on a torque converter? This thing should push a **** ton of torque, and I want it to the wheels as best as I can. Suggestions?

D60's under the front. Have hoops being built, have synergy's 3 link kit coming for it.

AAM 11.5 from a GM for the rear end. Going to order longer leafs for it, pull the gas tank, and get a fuel cell.

Little bit of rot, there's an outfit here called Lazerman, so I'm going to get some sides made up outta 1/16", need to open it up for 40" tire's anyway.

I'll have the 304, T-176, and D300 pulled this week, setting up my 401, TH400 and doubler to go in.

.

Been suffering withdrawals, so I picked up an 85 CJ 7 Laredo, overall good condition, so I have a jeep again. $1500. Runs like a top. Beauty jeep. I'm pleased with it!

Also got the AAM 11.5 temporarily slung. Gonna get some 63.5" leaves for the rear, and move the axle back 10". Drop the gas tank, and get a fuel cell.

Got my JK back from insurance. Change of plans. It's got a G2 44 core front and a Dynatrac 60 rear. And a 4.5" rubicon express long arm suspension. Gonna move this body over to it.

Stripped the 8 down tonight, bodies loose, and the JK's coming home next weekend to get stripped down. Whoo HOO!!

So the CJ 8 tub is going on a JKU frame? What mods are needed to make that work? Is the frame a close enough match length and width-wise? Wheelbase adjustments? This should be a good thread to follow. Sounds like a fun project.
