2026 SOA Nationals - Event Announcement

For those looking to do extreme trails this year, we are not offering runs in that difficulty range. However, you should attend the National event and trailer up the road to Montrose Colorado to run all of the extreme trails in that area. The extreme Scrambler group has been running those trails for decades and can offer trail descriptions and directions.

That video you posted Mike of Black Bear with the Toyota guys....I'm not sure if that helped my confidence or hurt it. I have certainly improved in my tolerance for sketchy, off-camber and exposed spots but in my mind I keep telling myself how the camera never does things justice for how they feel in real life. The whole time watching that video my palms were sweating and my heart rate went up. I live at 600 feet in Alabama.... Ha! Whites are in, for the National, as always but the jury is still out on Black Bear.... I'm gonna need a real good spotter that I know well and trust.

Have been told by the better half, not just No... But HELL NAW.....

The next trail we will be guiding, and highlighted here, is Imogene Pass. Google describes the trail as, Imogene Pass is a high-altitude, rugged 4x4 trail in Colorado's San Juan Mountains, connecting Telluride and Ouray, known for stunning views, mining history (Tomboy Ghost Town), steep grades, and obstacles like ledges and rock gardens, generally open from summer to early fall (July-Oct) and requiring high clearance/4WD for its challenging, but rewarding, scenic drive.
We still need to decide how we will run this, the two options are running pavement to Telluride and then taking Imogene back to Ouray or doing the opposite and running Imogene directly out of Ouray towards Telluride. The later option is most likely what we will do as it allows for more time spent in Telluride in the afternoon. Need to make time for those $20 burgers in Telluride!
When we last ran Imogene we hit it after doing Black Bear into Telluride first, that made for a long day on the trails.
This video shows the trail and scenery really well.

Have run Imogene multiple times in the past. Both in the 8 and in the XJ we had before the 8. Our favorite!

We went to Ouray and ran these trails plus Poughkeepsie. Was a great trip. Poughkeepsie isn’t as bad as some say, plus the “wall” is optional. I feel everyone should run Black Bear pass. It isn’t a hard trail, just need to keep your tires on the trail.

The next trail we will be leading, and highlighted here, is Engineer Pass. Rated moderate and a Jeep Badge of Honor trail, this trail is also part of the Alpine Loop system. Incredible scenery and outstanding views at the summit with many mines and historical points of interest along the route. This pass connects the towns of Lake City with either Ouray and/or Silverton. The pass' elevation is 12,800'.
