    Needing direction...

Agreed. It would be stunning with the graphics. How's the flying going?

Or a nutmeg coat of paint on the roof would be absolute perfection......

I hear you. I came here when we opened the new base in Orlando thinking we would be here for 2 or 3 years max then back to Denver when I could hold a line there..... that was nearly 8 years ago and I still can't hold a line in Denver. Sigh.............

No Spare Holes in Roll Bar

My '81 had holes for the side boards but no holes for either the spare or shoulder belts. I added shoulder belt attachments (thought facing inward rather than forward because I'm tall and moved my seats nearly 3" aft) and filled the side board holes.

Envious. The longer I live in Florida the more I miss the nice seasons. Florida has two seasons: summer and sauna.

So you had me at 'ball cooler'. Did I mention I live in a sauna? Funnily enough, I started pulling my head unit out to see whether the heater inputs went through the same holes as the factory heater core and it appears that I actually got the air con only..... just as well I hadn't pulled my old...

Nothing says 'cheap and nasty' quite as well as Chinese galvanized brackets. It stuck out like a dog's bollocks in my black engine compartment...... so I 'improved' it. And then got creative to make the bottom brackets keep the condenser vertical.

Thanks Mike, Bugger. Wish I'd known that earlier. Hmmmm. Well, heat is irrelevant right now as I live in a sauna. But once my son finishes high school we're going back to New Mexico, so I'll need heat then. I was trying to avoid doing the blazer upgrade but buying the combo unit. How did...

I searched for about two hours today for a 7/8-14 banjo fitting to a 3/8 hose barb or even an AN6, but no joy. I finally found a 7/8-14 90° bend to a 1/2" pipe thread from Summit. So I bought that and then I'll see about stepping that down to 3/8" barb for the low pressure line. Tomorrow I'll...

Well the engine is now in! I wound up removing my old pilot bushing using grease and a drift. It came out really well and I wound up using that. Like an idiot, When the new pilot bushing came I installed it in the new engine. And despite my repeated advice to my son.... Always measure three...

I would love that! Although I wouldn't wish the weather here on anyone: 90° and humid everyday sure takes the fun out of wrenching. 🥵

Well, I had the engine in and mounted. But I could not quite get it to mate with the transmission. Funnily enough, I used a clutch plate alignment tool this time to line up the clutch plate. Last time I did it by sight. After messing around with it for about 2 hours, I finally pulled the engine...

I could use the C6 if my parking brake gives out: great boat anchor. I could tie it right behind my 351 to keep me from rolling. 🤪

Baby steps: corrected the water pump..... now it's the way I actually ordered it. The serpentine system was a pain to figure out, but now that I've figured it out isn't too bad. I'm a bit nervous that the power steering pump will hit the steering shaft and I'll have to change it to the Saginaw...

Old engine out, engine bay painted. Wren I get home from this trip I should have my correct pump. After nearly 9 months of waiting, my new engine from Phoenix Engine turned up: 345 horse 351w. Aluminum heads, 2.25" valves, cam, high flow oil and high flow water pump...... and therein lay...

The engine finally arrived, so the tear down begins. Of course, they screwed up the water pump inlet location (driver's side input when I was very clear it needed to be passenger inlet) so I've also got to pull apart the front of the new engine to swap out the pump......

    Turn signal issues...

I'm thinking grounding issue on your left turn signal and it's using your right turn signal's ground as a jump. I would try grounding the light housing on either side with a long wire to see whether that solves the issue then if it does do a permanent fix.

    Question regarding automatics

At a guess, from those I've seen and the ones I've read about, I would say too many. But that's really just a guess, I can't base that on any factory numbers or statistics. 😃

    Which Winch To Use?

I've always had 8274s until my 8. I have an M8000 on that. We still have an 8274 on the 72 FJ40 which was bought in 1989 (the winch. The 40 was purchased new by my folks). It's been used so many times I can't tell you the number and other than new cable and an oil change it's never let us...
