    Current Scrambler pics

Took a quick weekend trip to try out a bunch of new camping gear. Went to some trails on the North side of Mt. Shasta. About 65 highway miles. Jeep did great both on and off road. It is a beast on the trail. I was very impressed with the suspension feel at low and medium-high speeds...

Here are my scale certificates. Neither has me or any passenger inside. Unloaded: Fully Loaded with 23 gallons of gas, 6 gallons of water, Dometic Refrigerator, Gazelle tent, spare parts, tools, recovery gear , food and everything for camping: That's 520 lbs of "stuff". ALL that extra...

22nd Annual Colorado Scramble for 2024

We booked a room at the Kendall Mountain Lodge. Looks like a pretty small room but it does have a window (some don't), bathroom/shower, mini-fridge and coffee machine. My wife liked it and the location. Anyone here have any comments on it? I will likely have my F350 and car hauler. Will...

    Holes under tailgate hinge?

Does anyone know what these holes are for under the tailgate hinges?

    ModernJeeper Death of Rubicon Express?

This is what I run. 35's with 1" body lift. I use the Rubicon Express RE1445. They are YJ 1.5" SOA springs and work great. Not sure these springs are available now based on this thread. You can probably get by without the body lift but I did that to clear the NV-4500. I have TJ Flares now...

    Custom Roll Cage Ideas

Here's mine. One thing to factor in is the very rear hoop. If you want to run the Bestop full top, it comes down at a pretty good angle at the rear. I'm not sure it will work with my cage. Luckily I found a NOS Kayline which I ran for years and needed replacing. It is less of an angle at...

How much does a scrambler weigh?

Next time I am loaded up for a trip, I will weigh it again. Some of the heavy additions: Dana 60, Dana 44, NV-4500, Atlas T-Case, Poison Spyder Armor for rockers and corner/sides, Warn winch and front bumper, TDK rear bumper, Full family cage, dual batteries, 35's, frame reinforcement plates...

How much does a scrambler weigh?

Here is another data point. It looks like the heavy title goes to me! 4,900 total. Front axle: 2,360 Rear axle: 2,540 No cargo. Just a basic toolkit, Safejack kit, and a full tank of gas. (23gal). I was not in it. Setup like the pic shows.

Revolution Electronics - Intermittent Wiper module?

    Voodoo Blue 82 Complete Refresh

I have a few updates to post. The full hard doors are done and working great. I'll post about them later. I finally got around to connecting in the Revolution Electronics Intermittent Wiper module. It turns your two position wiper switch/motor into one with 8, 5 and 3 second intermittent...

For those who have swapped NV4500s into your CJs…

I put mine in with some help from someone who did it a few times. But that was 25 years ago. I believe we initially used the stock mounting position but did a 1" body lift to clear the extra height. Then a few years later when we put in the Atlas II, we made a custom skid plate/mount...

    AI invented a Dana 30

I have three children. Ages 24, 22 and 20. As a former Scoutmaster, I spent time teaching them how to use paper maps. My son is good - he is an Eagle Scout and just finished 4 years in the Marine Corps. Whenever we go on a family trip, I select a different "navigator" for the day. (wife is...

    Splash shields?

Did the Scrambler come with plastic splash shields that covered the underside of the tub at the rear corners? This is the area where the fuel fuller hoses go through on the passenger side and where the rollover check valve goes on the drivers side. In my parts pile, I only found the splash...

    DOJO's 1st OCHO

I had run a Kayline full top for years but it got thrashed by age and trees. During my rebuild, I waited for one to come up for sale and finally got a "new old stock" one here on the forum. I believe it has one more bow (3) versus the Bestop and probably flaps less. I can do 75 mph and it...

    What's on your Work Bench?

When is your Rubicon trail trip? Heavy snow is probably falling there right now. California is getting hammered with this atmospheric river.

    Transmission Question for 5.3 swap

I worked with a shop to make a custom skid plate and cross member. I have a 1" body lift and we mounted the NV-4500 and Atlas II as high as possible to get the lowest profile mounting position for the skid plate. (short of a "tummy tuck" flush skid plate) And this mount...

    New CJ8 Member

For sure. My truck is a 1999 F-350 7.3 PowerStroke Diesel. I ordered it from Ford and it cost me $27K. It currently has a little over 250K miles. At the time of purchase, Diesel fuel was a decent amount less per gallon compared to gas. That definitely factored into my purchase. Previous to...

22nd Annual Colorado Scramble for 2024

I am going to try and make this one! If my wife and I can both get the time off work, we'll be there. We were on the first one in 1998 in Silverton. (San Juan Scramble) It will be nice to get back in my newly refreshed Scrambler.
