Here is my post to our trip to the Old Dale Mining District on BLM land just outside Joshua Tree National Park. We also did some 4x4 trails in the National Park. It was a great way to avoid the typical tourist areas in the park...
A few have asked to see my gear checklists. Here are a few... Hope they help. Yes...I was a Scoutmaster....
Can't upload Excel files so here are some PDF's. I didn't spend time formatting for PDF as I just use the Excel versions. So these lack dividing lines etc.
I also have a tool kit...
My reading glasses! (3.0 power for working on the jeep) They are critical for me doing any detailed work on the Scrambler. Now that I am in my 60's, I have developed CSS Disease. (Can't See Shit Disease) That goes along with CRS Disease. (Can't Remember Shit Disease)
Headlamp comes a...
@Belizeit I think this is the video you mentioned:
I just ordered the Wilwood Clutch Master Cylinder plus the other parts to try it. Probably not likely to get them in and do the install until after Thanksgiving weekend. We're traveling to Monterey.
Once I get it in and tested, I will...
@Belizeit Do you know which specific heim joint you bought? (to fit on the clutch pedal peg)
Also, the stock Jeep line fitting is 7/16"-20 inverted flare. The Wilwood is 3/8-24. Will need an adapter.
That Luk one looks just like the two Crown ones that I had leak.
I am seeing if the Wilwood (made in USA) one might work. The measurements seem to match up. However the bore size is .75 where I think the stock bore size is .8125. Apparently the smaller bore will make the pedal pressure...
What have you used for a clutch master cylinder that has lasted years without leaking from the seal on the firewall side?
When I rebuilt my Scrambler, that had the 4-cylinder engine new, I kept what appeared to be the stock master cylinder. I believe it was on there for 40 years and didn't...
We were pretty setup and things worked great overall. I will upload my checklist here if people want. It's dialed in.
There are two things we are adding:
1 - A small travel blow dryer that can run off my Bluetti AC70 Power Station. I already ordered it and received it. After my wife took...
I definitely miss all the good Jeep/4x4 Mags! I do get OVR now but that's it. I pretty much copied Mark Werkmeister's "Project Too Long" with my Scrambler build. That was in JP Magazine.
Back from our AWESOME Scrambler Overlanding trip to Joshua Tree National Park.

Back from the trip to Joshua Tree National Park and the Old Dale Mining District on BLM land. Wow! It was fantastic. There are so many abandoned mines to visit. We did maybe 15% of them. Didn't see anybody for the first three days we were exploring the mines on the BLM land. Then we took...
All cleaned up and ready to head out on Wednesday. Towing the Scrambler down to Carlsbad, CA (10 hrs, 650 miles) and going to a niece's wedding. Then after that, we're going farther south with just the Scrambler to spend 5-days and 4-nights in and near Joshua Tree National Park. The...
Did he happen to say where he gets them from or what they are originally out of? I have one that I purchased from them in 1998. Still working great but if it goes out, I would love to have a quickly accessible replacement.
Got out and did some very easy wheeling. My wife's mountain biking group had a trip to Jacksonville, OR. I tagged along and did the nearby "Siskiyou Divide Trail" while we were out there. Very scenic and easy for the most part. It parallels the Pacific Crest backpacking trail for part of...
Stay with it! It's totally worth it in the end. I'm still in shock that I pulled off my rebuild. Never did anything to that level before. And both my wife and I are amazed we drove the Scrambler 3K miles last summer to Colorado and Idaho and back to Nor. Cal. (my tow rig broke on the...
I have a lot of accessories and below is a shot of how I wired them to the passenger fender. Under the batteries is a Redarc BCDC1225D DC to DC charge controller. It manages the charge on the auxiliary battery (left side in pic) independent from the starter battery. IT also has a solar input...
