Are you running the skinny OE front shaft? How flat is the case indexed?
I looked an 8 years ago with that combo. It's very tight with factory axles. Always wondered how tight a factory TH400 was in a CJ.
Its more that 4.5" until it settles. My garage opening is 82.5" and it takes me pushing the door up past the opening to get mine in the door with 33" tires.
It's super simple to strip paint to chrome yourself, but if you want to strip the chrome I recommend trading the wheels. I don't know that powder sticks to chrome well. Paint doesn't.
It's a solid rig. As long as there's no rust at the seat belt attachment point on the floor that's a "wire wheel and corroseal" job. Stop whats there, enjoy it and plan for the future.
Had some time to work on my TJ. Recently installed a Rubicon D44 rear and needed to mount the air pump. Wanted it under the hood so I flattened and trimmed the original bracket to mount on the factory ECM bracket. Clean up and paint tomorrow.
I am moving so I passed this onto "OEM Tom" here in Utah.
Now it's in my shop to get it running..
and I am rebuilding the carb...
So I am doing this kicking myself because I just should have bought it....
Original rebuilt or find a 32RH. Very similar trans, both can be built well. 32RH has crankshaft position sensor cutout if you want to do a junkyard MPI setup and only needs a clocking ring for Dana 300.
