Thanks for the tip... I've had quite a few people ask me if I'd sell them a the Hurst Commando hood scoop, apparently the originals all start to droop in the center over time. I've also had people ask me if I'd sell them a complete CJ Grille Kit or a complete Commando Grille Kit. But I only do...

Yup, it's made by Lund, back in the CJ days. Long discontinued now. I first saw one on a CJ-8 in JP Magazine years ago, been kind of on the lookout for one ever since. I don't plan to actually install this one on the LJ-8, I just bought it to satisfy my curiosity

Since I'm the only person I know of that's cut up a World Cab to modify it, and since I take lots of photos, I checked to see if I have a photo of that section of the top. Unfortunately, since I scrapped the area around that joint because it wasn't part of my final design, I don't have any...

I've always thought those fiberglass windshield visors had a kind of cool look, so when I ran across one designed for a CJ for only $20, I had to grab it just to see what it might look like with the CJ grille and the Safari Cab. It's just held in place with masking tape for the moment.

Here are a few more photos of the LJ-8 from yesterday, hooked to it is another one of my recent projects, a Jeep-tub tilt-up camper...

Andy, Thank you. For me the details make the project :). It's probably been 13 years since I installed the TJ bumpers on my CJ-8, but what I remember on the front is having to trim the back lip of the bumper slightly so it would fit over the frame rails, and having to make up some spacers to...

If you're talking about the Hurst scoop, I'm sure that would look pretty cool on a 72/73 Commando. But if you're talking about the complete Jeepster Commando Kit (hood/fenders/cowl panel), those are designed to fit the TJ/LJ so they wouldn't fit the old Commandos.

The design is for a pickup, so I think a sloped rear would not be as practical as a vertical one. Plus I've got a spare fiberglass Jeep-style trailer tub ready made for this application. Part of the reason for doing a pickup with the tub I've got is for it to be a proof-of-concept for using...

I've got a TJ tub that's been sitting in my garage taking up space, I'm thinking maybe I should do something like this with it:

No need for testing, we know it's a 100% bolt-on fit, the only part that's different is the hood - the fenders and cowl panel are the same as the ones I just installed on my LJ. And by choosing the right variant of the factory grille, all of the hardware to install the TJ radiator and A/C...

Here are a few more photos of the scoop. It's a close replica of the original Hurst Jeepster scoop, but instead of mounting a proprietary tach, it can hold 1 or 2 standard gauges. Some gauge printouts in place for a mockup: Besides the Jeepster Commando, I tried it out on a few other...

While I was designing the CJ Grille Kit parts and making the molds, I also made one other variation of the kit - a TJ/LJ Jeepster Commando Kit. It uses the same outer and inner fenders and cowl panel, but has a Commando-style wider hood to work with a factory Jeepster Commando grille. I also...

It was almost 4 years ago that I finished the Safari Cab build and took some photos of the final result (September 2010). Today I got a couple of those photos out of the archive and retook them with the CJ Grille Kit installed. The Jeep has about 70,000 more miles on the clock now...
