    Current Scrambler pics

Got out and did some very easy wheeling. My wife's mountain biking group had a trip to Jacksonville, OR. I tagged along and did the nearby "Siskiyou Divide Trail" while we were out there. Very scenic and easy for the most part. It parallels the Pacific Crest backpacking trail for part of...

KISS Daily driver (keep it simple stupid)

Stay with it! It's totally worth it in the end. I'm still in shock that I pulled off my rebuild. Never did anything to that level before. And both my wife and I are amazed we drove the Scrambler 3K miles last summer to Colorado and Idaho and back to Nor. Cal. (my tow rig broke on the...

    V8 Engine Wiring Ideas

I have a lot of accessories and below is a shot of how I wired them to the passenger fender. Under the batteries is a Redarc BCDC1225D DC to DC charge controller. It manages the charge on the auxiliary battery (left side in pic) independent from the starter battery. IT also has a solar input...

    Voodoo Blue 82 Complete Refresh

Got the Scrambler out on a moderate trail to a nearby lake. There is a pretty steep descent into the lake. We were with about 12 other vehicles - mostly JK and JL Wranglers. Nobody else went down this way. They took an easier route down to the lake. The 125:1 crawl ratio made this easy...

What batteries are people running these days?

@Grendel What are those Odyssey battery part numbers? I have an old Wrangler power products dual battery tray from the late 90's. It was designed for dual Optima 34/78's. I looked and didn't find any Odyssey models the same size. What tray are you using? Mine has a little extra room...

    DOJO's 1st OCHO

Here is where and how I added my stereo amp. It's been working great. Didn't need to raise up the Tuffy Console. https://www.cj-8.com/threads/voodoo-blue-82-complete-refresh.52225/post-461034 and the finished "false bottom" to protect the wires...

23rd Annual Colorado Scramble for 2025

Meri and I are bummed won't be joining you all this year. We had a great time last year in Silverton. Still rough here with all of the things going on related to the family tragedy we had.

    Voodoo Blue 82 Complete Refresh

Been a while since I posted. We've had a terrible tragedy happen to our family. There is a lot out there if you Google "Athena Passidakis". On April 3rd, our 21 year old daughter, Athena, was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend in Chico, CA where she was going to college. He ambushed her...

Gauges stay powered when ignition in “off” position. Help!!

Bummer. Check all of the wire slots on both bulkheads with the CAD drawing. Something else may be incorrectly terminated by Painless. Don't swap anything if it appears in the correct position. Good luck!

Gauges stay powered when ignition in “off” position. Help!!

I had a charger that worked for this. I would have been fine direct to battery as I didn't have any issues except for the reversed pins from Painless. Let us know how it turns out for you.

Gauges stay powered when ignition in “off” position. Help!!

Okay. I found my pics showing the problem I had. I am so glad I took tons of digital pics during the build process. They have saved my own butt a few times. Maybe they will help you out. Hopefully that is what you have going on. Here is what I found and sent to Painless: I have a lot of...

Gauges stay powered when ignition in “off” position. Help!!

@Chipster1990 I had that EXACT issue when I installed my painless harness. I reverified everything and I did it right. I worked with painless and it turned out to be a bad pin placement into the bulkhead adapter that connects both sides of the kit together through the dash. They sent me the...

    DOJO's 1st OCHO

I did order stiffer valving than Bilstein support recommended. They are using 700/2550 valving. Both front and read use the same valving. I'm heavy. Especially when fully loaded. But I don't find the ride harsh even when unloaded. I did used the 6 leaf Rubicon Express 1.5" YJ springs vs...

Bucket, the 1981 CJ8 frame off.

I used a flat pitman arm sourced from partsmike.com. They drill and ream it to your specs. It is very strong. https://www.partsmike.com/products/pitman-arm-no-drop-flat-no-master-splines?_pos=2&_sid=910295850&_ss=r Mine was drilled 5.25" center to center. My steering setup is amazing...

    Pappy's Adventure - 1981 restomod

Great job with all the work Tim! I was planning on running 37's on my Scrambler. It will fit in my garage without the soft top on, but the extra height of the middle bow would prevent that. Even with the 35's, before the new leaf springs settled a bit, I hit the top coming in one day that I...

    Current Scrambler pics

My wife met a photographer on a recent mountain bike ride. She asked if we would like to be "models" for a new Kayak company that needed marketing pictures and video. It paid $100.00 each. We decided to do it and setup a time to meet at a cove on nearby Lake Shasta. Then we had some serious...

    Current Scrambler pics

Got out with the "NorCal Explorers" Facebook group. Did about 25 miles on pretty easy dirt trails. Followed sections of the "California Trail". We started near the town of McArthur, CA. The California National Historic Trail was a mid-19th century highway for human movement to lures of gold...
