258 dipstick and tube

Having a tough time finding a dipstick and tube for the 258. Ones for the V-8s are everywhere. The straight 6 not so much. Any leads out there?
 
I’ve heard that before a couple of times. Also I think there are 2 lengths maybe ?

I believe there is two different lengths. I don't believe the block or oil pan ever changed though so the distance to the bottom of the dipstick shouldn't change. The added length would be from the top of the dipstick to where it meets the block. Still no luck finding either, we'll that's not entirely true. One on Ebay for $116. No thanks

Last year I found a used short one (81 & earlier) from this seller on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/str/pajeeprecycling.

These guys thought they might get some in 5 - 6 months, but it appears they are still on back order. https://midwestjeepwillys.com

I reached out to Chad Golen to see what they use on their stroker and he said from a 4.0, but I'm thinking it may need to be modified some.

Occasionally I saw a used long one on ebay, but they were all $$$.

Damn....One sold for $116 on Ebay. I have one that I would sell for that much......

Not sure if it sold but that's what it was listed for.

I'm also thinking I should be able to get one that's the same diameter and cut it down to the size of mine then just use my dipstick. Don't think it'll cost me $116. 🤣
 
Short dipstick used through 1982. Longer 1983 and up. But both will fit your block. Ive got many of the shorter ones on the shelf for around $45 shipped. The longer ones sell more often perhaps have just 1 left to sell on those, $70 shipped. Requires a much longer box as well.

Excellent. Let me make sure which one I have. This Jeep isn't at my place right now. It's in an 82 but the engine is marked 83. I'll look at some pics I have and figure it out
 
Comes up to fender level then bends to the front ove the Cj. Almost as high as the hood itself. Gotta be the longer one.
