Adding Tach and Clock, wiring question

Hello, all. I am considering adding a clock and tach to my CJ-8. I am watching ebay for OEMs with the connectors but I have a question. I have not dropped my dash to see for myself, but are there unused connectors in the factory harness for these options? One of the posts I found here stated that the tach runs off the ignition loop and needs to be reconnected after someone removes the tach (the post involved someone wanting to remove the tach perminently). Does this mean I need to disconnect a connector under the dash and plug both ends into the tach? How about the clock, one OEM I saw on ebay has a ground terminal and a 2-prong connector on the end of it. Any help involving the electrical-side of this upgrade would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Slight correction...the ebay clock shows what looks like three seperate connectors and wires. The black has a ground terminal. There are also red and green/black wires that seems to terminate with two seperate connectors, one is male (black plastic) and the other is female (green plastic). The tach on ebay has several wires terminating with three seperate plastic connectors, I think. Thanks again for any insight on how these would hook up to my '83.

Sincerely,

Clock & Tach

I just found and installed a NOS 6 Cyl Tach & clock in my 84 CJ-7 Renegade, it didn't come with Clock & tach as factory option.
Used hole saw on dash. Then had to use air die grinder with carbide cutters to enlarge hole tad bigger.
Be sure and remove the drivers side speaker or there will be shavings all over it.

The clock harness plugs into fuse block with a special black plug.
Also grounds near the light switch.

The tach gets power from this harness with the green plugs (for the light) and there are big (like 10 ga.) red wire and red with white stripe with white connectors that the tach plugs into that are in unused part of factory wiring harness.

It's pretty easy. Take the drivers seat out and its super easy on the old back.
