AK Postal Scrambler Dash Pad

OK, I’ve been collecting parts for a couple years and I’m finally ready to start cleaning up my postal. The original dash pad is faded and cracked and I have an OEM style replacement from omix-ada that is made for a Scrambler, although I’m not sure if there are any differences between the one made for the standard Scrambler and the one on the postals from the factory, I can’t see any differences. To replace it, I’m assuming I will need to fold the windshield down. The problem is, I still have the factory full steel top and I don’t want to remove it if I can avoid it. I’m curious if anyone out there has any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

If it's similar to the OEM dash there tabs and 4 screws from the top so you will have to lower the windshield. I have done this just recently because I ended up taking off my dash pad off completely. I suppose if you didn't care about damaging the dash it's might be possible to use a hacksaw blade and just cut those tabs off without lowering the windshield, but it's pretty easy to remove the top so I wouldn't do that.

You don't have to completely remove the hard top. You will still need to remove the over the door brackets to get to the screw holding the top corner of the windshield, and remove the screws along the top edge of the windshield connecting to the hardtop. You then have to remove about half of the bed bolts enough be able to lift the front of the hardtop a couple inches to allow the windshield to fold down, but the bolts torwards the rear you can just loosen without taking them off. I was able to stand in the bed and use my back to lift the hardtop while lowering the windshield. I'd make sure to have some help or put some padding on the hood so the windshield doesn't just drop down, mine was stiff enough that it would hold itself in position.
