Hey, all. I posted a thread in the "Body" section about replacing the bed the other day. I'll try it here...if anyone has a good write up and pics on replacing the main bed panel and the 4 corner floor panels I'd appreciate a link to the process. I have searched through many of the restoration threads but either using the wrong search words or have otherwise overlooked it. I am considering parts from Classic Ent. Thanks in advance.

I am really looking for some insight on the rear of the bed and the work involved there during a bed panel replacement. My tub is currently on her back so I can see most of the spot welds and see what all is involved. However, at the rear of the bed there appears to be at least two sheet metal pieces that tie to the bed and become supports and the rear of the vehicle (behind the bumper). That area is my main concern as far as doing it myself. Please, any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

I am currently working on my 8. I have taken a wrangler tub and cut off the back section and am currently welding on all new sheet metal to complete a cj8 tub. I know its a little different from what your asking but it is some what the same. I have posted some photos in my restro page which shows the bed sections. If I can be of some assistance let me know. As far as the last question you asked look at http://classicent.com/jeep.php this might help. I believe you are asking about the tailgate support.

Not hard just alot of spot welds to drill out very time consuming but if you have it fliped over thats half the battle. cut out the panels right up to the spot weld flanges do you can see what you are doing. same for the cross members just get you a sawz all and remove as much of the panel that you are replacing so then all you have left are the flanges where its spoted.

Thanks gaducker, how about bracing the tub when cutting it apart? Will it rack without some temporary bracing to hold it in place?
