Best Tool for Trimming Fenders

I know we've covered this topic before but now that i have 35's on the Scrambler i'm suddenly interested.

What is the best tool to use to trim fenders? I have problems with my hands so i'm interested in maybe something that is powered.

I don't really want to go out and buy the tool but perhaps i could rent it from my local hardware store. Any thoughts?

A Sawzall will work great. Any tool rental place should have them. Or wait for a sale at Sears and buy one. Trust me, once you use one, you'll want to have one around all the time. Wonder tool of the century.

I used a sabre saw on mine with a good metal blade and it made quick work out of it-you might still need the sawzall to reach cuts that the sabre can't reach-JC

The best

The best I have seen at trimming fenders is an air nibbler, just trace where you want to cut and go to work. I have use a sawsall before and it works well too, but the nibbler is much cleaner and just a tad slower. You can pick one up from JC Whitney. Get the more expensive of the 2, it will cut through the sheet metal better. At under $100 you can't beat it.

Most just use a sawsall and get the real hard parts with a jigsaw. Seems most people already have both and they do work well.

But the best is an air nibbler.

To keep things confusing

Well to keep things a little up in the air, I like using a air powered cut off wheel to do mine. Just take your time and follow the line you mark and it works great. But all the others listed work well too, its just a matter of what you feel most comfortable with or have the most experience with....

I agree with KerryP. I bought the $20.00 air cut-off tool from Harbor Freight, and I've used it on all of my sheetmetal cuts. Good Luck - Dwain
