ive decided to rebuild my 304, a little playin on the internet and found that the 360 an 304 is the same stroke. the 360 bore is about .33 larger than the 304. but the 401 is a bigger bore and stroke, i figure for not to much more money, i could machine my 304 block to 360 or even a 401. any thoughts?
a 401 engine with 304 stamped on the side, cool! or not.......:D ..

360's are abundant. i would put my time and energy into building a 360. if you can find a 401 buy that. there is a lot of time and $ to be spent getting a 304 bored to 360. just buy one thats already close to what you want/need.

All three blocks are different in the fact they cant be made into the next size up. Like mentioned above this go with a 360. Easy to come by and lots of hop up parts are out there. If you find a 401 they are great. Forged crank and rods along with a high nickel block make them a strong engine. But that also makes them more money.
