TRYING TO PLAN MY BUILD UP, WANT TO GET SOME DIFFERENT VIEW/OPTIONS OF REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE. I HAVE AN 84 CJ8 WITH A STOCK 258, STOCK DRIVE TRAIN , WITH 4 SPEED. IT HAS A 4 INCH LIFT WITH 31 BFG. WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IS TO HAVE A RELIABLE, SMOOTH RUNNING, EASY CRANKING ENGINE CAPABLE OF HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65-70) WITH OUT OVER TAXING THE ENGINE. PLAN TO PUT 33" ON (WHAT GEAR SELECTION WOULD BE BEST?). AFTER READING THIS BOARD FOR OVER A YEAR I HAVE DECIDED THAT I WANT TO KEEP THE 258 UNTIL IT DIES (HAS 160,000 MILES, BUT STILL RUNS GOOD.) WEBER CARB VS. TBI?. EXPLAIN WHAT THE ADVANTAGE IS OF PUTTING 4.0 HEADS ON. JEEP WILL BE A DAILY DRIVER WITH LITTLE OFF-ROADING. WOULD LIKE IT TO BE ABLE TO TOW SMALL JOHN BOAT OR SEADOO. JEEP HAS A/C AND I WANT TO KEEP THAT. CAN'T SHOW UP TO WORK SOAKING WET!

sounds like you pretty much have a plan-TBI vs Weber-I've run both and can tell you the diferance is night and day-The TBI wins hands down-smother power and quicker response-as far as gears with the 6cyl and 33" tires I'd say go with 4:56 gears and you'll be happy since your going to tow a small boat-make sure if you haven't done it, to upgrade your rear axle shafts to one piece units and the rear will live for what you have planed-Unless your planning on doing a direct injection like the mopar injection,it want be worth the cost and time involved to do the 4.0 head swap-JC:p

HAVE A BABY DUE NEXT MONTH, SO MY PLANS ARE ON HOLD TILL AFTER THEN. ALSO FORGOT MENTION I CAN HEAR AN EXHAUST LEAK AROUND THE MANIFOLD/EXHAUST. I CAN TELL THAT IT IS ROBBING SOME POWER. WHAT ARE SOME RECOMENDATIONS ON THE USE OF HEADERS AND HOW MUCH TROUBLE ARE THEY TO INSTALL ON A JEEP?
