Hey folks was wondering what my color code is...my jeep is a white 1985 Jeep with a spice interior, and spice half hardtop. And what color are the original decals. Thanks
I have a chart that lists the name for the color codes. When you find it on the firewall there is a 2 digit code for the body color. For 1985 my chart lists white colors as follows: Color code 3D is "Sterling Metallic" and color code 9B is "Olympic White". I asked about the decal color in the past and was told that it was customer specified. However, I have an '83 beige Jeep and I have never seen one with any decal color other than the brown shades. I'd suggest web searching white Jeeps of your year to see what was used (I've seen blue and/or black). I have original brochures from that era if you have trouble finding it but I have to dig them up. The main thing with the decals from what I have found is that the pattern changed over the years. There is a bolder 3 color scheme and a toned down 2 color scheme that are year specific...if you are looking for originality. If you have trouble finding the correct one for your year let me know and I'll look deeper. I'm going with the 3 color for mine even though it is not real to my Jeep, I just think it looks nicer. Hope this helps.
By the way, when you stated decals I was assuming you meant the stripe kits. If you just meant the logo decals on the "Jeep" name in front of the doors then I am not sure.
The stripe color depends on if your Jeep was a Laredo (SL), Renegade (SR), or base model. Most base models didn't come from the factory with stripes but sometimes dealr's installed OEM stripes or some type of aftermarket stripes. Usually you can tell if your Jeep is a Laredo if it has the clock and tach on either side of the steering column. If it dosen't have those then it is either a SR or a base model. There are different stripe designs depending on the years. The break down is:
'81 - '82 SR
'83 - '84 SR
'81 - '84 SL
'85 - I've only seen one style stripe kit for both SR and SL with either "Scrambler" or "Laredo" on the hood respectivly.
