Hey all. i have a tuffy locking console with the cutout for the CD player. When I try to move the seats up the seat belts hang up on it. So Im gonna sell it, but want another console to put in its place. Are there any console out there that fit to the contours of the floor instead of using the metal bracket to support it in the rear?

Karl

How are the oem consoles mounted? Not just sheet metal screws through the floor?

I took a 1x 1 1/2 x 1/16 flat stock. Bent it to go from rear bolt on each front seat mount and mounted the console to it. No drilling the floor.

I just know you're dying to post a pic of that mounting bracket

Yes that is the best idea I have heard in a while. Now I can mount a console in a CJ here that never had one and not drill holes in the floor doing so. Brilliant!

Outstanding idea! I was toying with the idea of using industrial strength velcro as well but haven't had a chance to test it yet.

how much are you asking for your tuffy console?

as far as a replacment.....the wife came through a few years ago and picked me up a "select increments" intra-pod console with 8" sub/ and amp. It is a pretty trick console and conforms to the floor well. I added a Rockford Fosgate sub, with 250 watt RF mono amp....with the 6x9 3 way Pioneers in boxes under the seats and the JBL 5 1/4's in the dash powered by the 52x4 Sony cd deck...it really sounds good!!! and looks great!

JEEPTHRILLS,

What about water? Is your console a weather proof console? I have no top, so rain is a factor. I just sold my Tuffy because it was to tall.
