Howell fuel injection 77-80 vs 81-86

I have the opportunity to buy a used Howell fuel injection kit for my 84 scrambler with the 4.2.
The problem is the fuel injection kit is for a 1972-1980 CJ. I was told it will not work. My question is why not? It’s seems like it would be compatible. I heard it’s a computer issue… Any insight would be helpful.
 
It's likely the Duraspark wiring (direct vs through computer) and factory O2 sensor port in the manifold. Rewire the ignition direct. Should be simple to make it work. I say buy it.
 
I think it is the adapter as well... it more than likely is a 1bbl manifold on those and there is a 1bbl to 2 bbl adapter... you need the 2 bbl to 2 bbl adapter for what you are doing.

If you are required to smog your jeep, you will need to make sure that you get the compliant decals that come with the kit.
