Kayline soft top

Hi all.
A question please.
I have mounted an old Kayline soft top on my CJ7, and fits very fine, but I don't understand how the lower part of the rear window attaches to the tailgate.
In the hardware I found a long "L" profile that should slip in a channel of the internal lining of the rear window, and (in theory) go to contrast with two small "L" brackets screwed to the tub, on the sides of the taigate.
Does anyone have a similar soft top mounted and can you post some photos please?
Thanks for your help.

Can you post a photo of the hardware you have?
May be able to help if I can see the piece you have vs. what you need.
Thanks
Kyle

Thank you Kyle.

This is the three "L" profile (long into the channel and two screwed on the tub)

Do you have the installation instructions for the top?

It appears that the short angle bracket you are holding should mount on the inside of the tub and overlap the top of the tub.
(The screws in your picture are entering the angle piece from the wrong side)

Same instructions I have- been along time since I had a Kayline. Do you slide and then rotate the tailgate retainer down to lock it in similar to the way Bestop did on supertop back windows?

Great! Great!! Thank you! :giggle:

I have no idea how long I have been looking for this information!

...I would never have imagined that the little "L" profile would have to be fitted that way!
If I hadn't received your reply (after asking everywhere) I would have fitted it incorrectly!
Many thanks.

Unfortunately my instructions showed a different type of rear window, with a rigid profile on the soft and "push-in" brackets, like the part on the windscreen (see photo).

Luckily Kyle had you post pics...

Your screenshot is from the CJ7 instructions, after looking at the CJ5, 6, 7, & 8 instructions this is what matched your parts.
Mine where from the Cj8 instructions.

Thanks again! :giggle:
Hey Pitman, do you have any photos of the corner brackets showing the profile? And the tailgate retainer bar "L piece" that goes in the 3' long length of tailgate fabric/pocket? It would be helpful if you could share the dimensions of the L piece so I can make my own.

I'm trying to piece together my soft top and the instructions are the same. I've got these corner brackets but I don't think they are correct.

Pitman can respond as well.

Those would appear to be Bestop corners for a SuperTop, Not sure that Kayline used the same style.

Here I am!
So, I confirm, my corners (like the straight side profiles) have the edge at 90° to the horizontal part, not like this in the photo.

In the few days I will lower the sheet and take some photos for you!

B-D Company out of Denver had Kayline hardware and tops for scramblers. They evidently sold to Denver Auto Fastener based on what I am seeing. I can not find their CJ8 Top info on their website. You might call them to see if they have the parts you need. I doubt they would sell just a piece, but worth a try.

I couldn't find B-D website show up until this yellow page, but then it redirects you the other I linked.
