Lowering the passenger seat...

I looked below but didn't see a category for interior... Anyway, has anyone done this, lowered the passenger seat some how. An aftermarket bracket or modded one? Thanks...

I modified both my stock CJ seat brackets to accept TJ seats. To accept the TJ seats, I had to effectively lower the seat height compared to the stock CJ height. Search my build thread (link in signature).

Quick wtite up at lunch........sorry if I miss something


There have been a lot of complaints over time of CJ and YJ aftermarket seats that sit too high. There have also been complaints about fiberglass bodies that make the seats set too high.

I had both and finally took the time to shorten my brackets.

I need to get 2" lower from where they currently sat.

The driver side was easy since it was fixed.

Cut 2" off the bracket, weld on a new top bar, and slot the holes in the angle brace...

2005 TJ seat project.
Initially I was going to try reupholstering my Bestop seats that were in the Jeep. They were too far gone to be saved, seat frames were toast and I'd have to tear the seat apart (literally) to get at the place that needed the repairing.
So I picked up Seats out of a 2005 TJ. (front and back) Back seat is for sale...

So, of course, no project on my Jeep is ever simple... EVER!!! Turns out that TJ seats have WAY more padding and need to be mounted 4" lower than CJ seats. No biggie, I thought. Then I had to tear down the TJ seats to move the sliders to CJ width...

My drivers was easy, the passenger still folds forward, it's down in the post a bit.

I did it very similar to how you did yours...............now I'm wondering if I should find a drivers side folding mount.........

My drivers one works perfect... My passenger binds a bit. I should fix it, but I know I never will unless it completely breaks. lol
