You know guys we have a major aftermarket replacement jeep part manufacturer here. I am surprised no one has asked for this part to be made.

Either the postal top or the overlander top. What do you guys think?????

Definitely.

Hi Guys,

I have a few questions with regards to the original tubs that we have at the plant.

1. Did some CJ7s come out with automatic transmission or a column shift? I'm asking because there is no transmission hole punched on our sample CJ7.

2. When did the master inspection cover disappear from the CJ5? And when was the floor emboss added?

3. Below are our original tub samples in different angles. Please let me know if you find anything wrong with it or if its a good sample :)

This is our 1978-1980 CJ7

and this is our 1972-1975 CJ5

Thanks in advance.

This tub would have been equipped with a turbo 400 auto trans( column shift ) and a full time 4wd transfer-case with no floor shifter
If a low range equipped , there was a small shifter on the left side of the tunnel near the drivers seat

If there is enough interest, I would potentially be willing to donate my extra postal top/world cab and rear barn door (w/hinges) to be used as a template to replicate. Of course I would require a new top, barn door (w/hinges) in return; shipped for free! :)

Also Rommel, has the top of the tub lip profile been corrected on your replacement quarter/side panels and replacement tubs to have the original contour that came on our Scramblers?

Do you have an 81-86 CJ7 tub on hand to compare it to your current CJ7 tub? The 81-86 CJ7 in my opinion is in much more demand and has a greater market. Just some quick differences off hand are the introduction of the B-pillar support panel and change in transmission tunnel cover size opening. The 76-79 used the dana 20 transfer case, but in '80 Jeep introduced the dana 300 transfer case and used it until '86. The B-pillar changed in '81 when the door striker style changed to accommodate the paddle handle hard doors. If you don't already have one, I would be looking for an '81-86 CJ7 tub to replicate!

Well i have put my order in for a new tub so when it arrives hopefully at the end of June/beginning of July i will report in.:smokin:

Hi Guys. Just want to ask if all the interested guys got in touch with Daryl Bensinger already. He is filling up his next order with us now :)

Rommel you have just reminded me! can you make me a RHD dash or am i using my old one? :DDave

I believe its a mirror image of the LHD, but i will take a photo of my old one when i get chance and post it up to make sure.

Here you go!
As you can see its not in terrible shape anyway and i have filled the rat holes, but would be nice to have new especially, as it was rusting behind the reinforcing.
The glove box cut out and the reinforcing piece would possibly be the hard parts but ill leave that for you to decide.

ok will work on it. Please pm me your email so we may communicate direct and have your order fixed before we send it to the UK :)

I've got one of your older tubs, produced at least 10 years ago, that I'll be cutting out the old firewall and replacing it with a Postal RHD firewall. I also know that I want it to have the "Jeep" emblem stamped into the side, so I'm planning on cutting that and welding it into the new tub too.

What are the other quirks, etc., that I'll need to adjust to make the tub bolt in? Again, this will be for an '84 CJ-8. Are all the capture nuts and nutserts already welded in place? Do you know if I'll need to "adjust" any of the body mounts or holes on the tub? In short, aside from the firewall and Jeep stampings, what else will I need to do to make the tub a direct replacement? (Even though it's in my garage, and it's been there for going on 8 months now, I fully admit that I've barely looked at it. It's served as storage and the work-bench for my bumper construction more than anything else.)

Here is what it is:

EDIT: Even in just glancing at these photos, I can see that there aren't provisions for the door striker brackets. What are the "other" things that you know of?

I know on cj7's they do not have the little tabs to hold the wiring for the tail light wiring harness. Up on the inside of the tub. One I did I need to put those in.

Just a heads up.
