MDJuan Tubs

will get back to you in a bit.

Wow you have a lot of Jeeps. I see a CJ7 in the back.

The silver beast is my main squeeze. Behind the tub with the green windshield frame is actually an '84 Postal CJ-8. Here's the present list:
'85 CJ-7 (presently in the "storage lot". It runs, and is occasionally still pressed into daily-driver service. Bought new by my father in 1985. I was with him on the test drive!)
2011 CJ-8 (the Aqualu/TDK beast in the picture)
'84 CJ-8 Postal #1 (parked outside; it runs, but needs work)
'84 CJ-8 Postal #2 (parked inside because it doesn't have an engine; it's in the picture with the green windshield frame)
'53 CJ-3B (parked on my property where I grew up. I'll get around to it. Doesn't run, but I suppose it could.)
'96 ZJ (wife's daily driver)

Jeeps of Christmas past:
'84 CJ-7 (more-or-less "became" my 2011 CJ-8)
'85 Grand Wagoneer (gave up it's engine for the '89)
'89 Grand Wagoneer (daily driver for 1.5 years of grad school. Still miss it.)
'95 XJ (wife's old ride when we first started dating)
'92? XJ (almost wife's replacement ride for the '95 XJ before we found the ZJ. Only had it for a few days.)

Hi AK-RWC,

Wow. Pls post more pictures of your Jeeps or Pm me and email me.

Can you make it to the BBQ? How far is AK to PA?

Cheers,
Rommel

What are the other quirks, etc., that I'll need to adjust to make the tub bolt in?
EDIT: Even in just glancing at these photos, I can see that there aren't provisions for the door striker brackets. What are the "other" things that you know of?

Aside from the firewall, jeep emboss and the door striker, he must rework on the body crossmember because it will interfere with the fuel tank.

I recall that photo from earlier in this thread, and pondered if I would have the same problem. I don't believe I will: keith460 is working with a CJ-7, and that body-crossmember is located adjacent to the fuel tank. On a Scrambler, due to the extra length, that last body-crossmember is around 18" away from the fuel tank.

I appreciate the invitation, and if was within 400 miles, I'd seriously consider it. Anchorage is approximately 4,300 road-miles from Westchester, PA. By comparison, the trip to Manila is 5,300 air-miles.

Rommel,
I have sent you several PM's with some questions regarding the tub lip profile and the rear side/quarter panels but haven't heard back from you yet. Has the top profile of the tub lip been corrected? What about the raised portion of the side panel where the wheel well is spot welded to; is the contour now matching that of the original tubs? Has the reinforcement flanged section that runs along the bottom of the side panels in front of and behind the wheel opening been added like the factory tubs had? The vertical flange along the back edge of the side/quarter panel where you are supposed to spot weld it to the taillight panel is not wide enough to allow a hole to be pre-drilled for spot welds; had this been made slightly larger? If these corrections have been made, are they available on both the replacement side panels and replacement tubs now?

Let me know if there would be any interest in a postal/world cab top and rear barn to replicate; I have an extra one I could possibly send you if there is enough demand. Thanks!

Any chance of getting these "JEEP" stamped in front of the doors? That would make it a lot harder for me to opt to fix my old tub...

New CJ8 tub being finished

Rommel, in the picture on the left near the step up you have a gussett sitting there the part painted gray, also the one sitting on the top of the floor, are you going to start selling those, I know in the past many members have looked for those.

yes we can sell that :)

I'm a little late to the game on this thread I won't be able to make it down there this weekend but if you got some time and want to take about a 2 Hour drive north, lots of jeeps here to look at and I'll give you a complete firewall section and some windshield frames. A couple of things I really would like to see you guys do is the windshield frames two ways - one the version with no ribs from 1983 ish and earlier and the single rib version from 84 to 86. make em proper with the proper gauge and exactly like the originals and all dimensions exact. They would sell well. Also some exact reproduction fenders. I can give you a pair of those also.

Isn't that the truth. A good OEM grade windshield frame would be in high demand. I got a glass one and hate it. Originals are always rotted out, and the aftermarket ones are as bad as my fiberglass one as far as fit and holding up with the wiper pivots.

Same thing for fenders. I bought a used from fender and it ended up being full of bondo. Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

Juan, I've seen this thread but haven't looked at it until now simply because I didn't think I needed any body repair panels. I did recently discover some rust in my front floor pans so at some point (when I pull the tub) I'll be looking into replacement panels. That said, I wanted to commend you on going on here and Jeepforum to get real world imput from Jeep lovers and try to make your tubs as good as they can be. It is refreshing to see a manufacturer who is interested in improving their product and wanting to do it RIGHT, instead of "good enough and a little better than the competition".

Thanks!
