On my cj7 I just installed a MTS tank. With the body lift the one hose was about 1" short. I could barely connect it but feared that it could pull off if the body flexed. I found that a 3/4" copper water line (I believe it was 3/4", I would have to check) made a tight fit in the hose. I cut the hose is a straight section and used a 3" piece with hose clamps. Since it's just a filler hose (fuel doesn't sit in the hose) I didn't worry about leaking. Had no problem with it and copper doesn't rust like steel and with a tight fit never worried about putting a flare in the tube (for tighter fit).
