I hope someone has done this before.

I would like to replace my factory 4 speed. Considering the Novak AX15. They have put together a complete package.
Hydraulic clutch master, bell housing, adaptors, standard shifter, etc.

They can not tell me if I will have to cut the tub. I assume the cover plate will need to modified. My scrambler is very clean with zero rust, and i do not want to cut it up.

Also should I spring for a new flywheel ?

Any pit falls I need to be prepared for ?

Better solutions ?

Thank you in advance

Jim

I did a 4.0FI/AX15 install in my 81. We used a Advanced Adaptors clocking ring to mount our D300. The stock AX15 external clutch master and slave cylinder setup was easy to fab/install. The trans cover had to be modified. Since the shifter now comes thru at the rear of the cover. Also had to custome fab a trans mount. We have no regrets about doing the install. We didnt use the kit. We found a good AX15. Got any new part needed from Rockauto.com. We would be happy to assist if you have any other questions about the swap.

thank you for the replay

I purchased a Novak conversion. Just have to find the time to install.

I believe Novak also has an uncut trans cover that is rolled to the proper radius for your Scrambler's floorpan. Good Luck on your conversion, you will have no regrets
