Sorry for the dumb question, but the bushings that separate the boy from the frame, how important/what are the benefits of replacing them with new ones? and does it require a completely removing the body from the frame (how much work is that?) or cn it be done without completely separating the two?

You can replace them one at a time without removing the tub.

Replacing those body bushings can be pretty easy if the bolts come out clean. It's not uncommon for 1 or more of the mounts to be rusted enough that the bolt must be cut off or it may even "spin" the anchor nut. If repairs have to be made, it can make the job a lot more complicated.

Is there a benefit to replacing the old cracked and squashed ones?

It may make your ride a littler softer and quieter. It may level your tub a little better, too. As Spieg says, you may also be opening up a can of worms depending on the current condition. You might not necessarily want to know what's under there.

It would be low on my list of priorities. Not much benefit for time, headache, and money.

Yeah this was my weekend project. i had been spraying my anchor nuts (The ones i could see) for two weeks with PB Blaster, and still some of the anchor nuts spun out, and several bolts broke they were pretty much gone. SO looks like the tub is coming off. I guess i will roll it outside and figure out how to remove the tub and pull the frame back inside. This will give me the opportunity to inspect and repair some problems i wasn't seeing with the tub on. Looks as if some of the anchor nuts are concealed, how the heck do you replace them.

If the bolt is broken off in the body, you can cut it flush and retap the hole. The capture "nut" is actually a plate in a box to allow for movement. If the plate has broken through the box and is actually spinning, you have to cut in there and rebuild it.

I doubt if I would touch those i have seen way worse, although your jeep looks solid they may come out.

Honestly doesn't look all all that bad. You could spend your time and $$ on other things.

Locked my doors and the PO didnt have key. 2 questions. Does anyone know how to break into a cj, and 2 what parts to I need so this doesnt happen again?
