Removing Clear Coat from chrome rims

I have searched the forum and could not find anything but apologies if this has been covered in another thread.

What is the best way to remove old clear coat from OEM chrome rims? Is a soda blaster gentle enough to remove the coat without scratching the chrome? I don't have a lot of spare time for the elbow grease method so was hoping to find something else that might work as well.

Thanks.

Aircraft stripper ?
That's what I just used on this one rim
Spray or brush it on,let it set ,wash it off
Then I went over it with an SOS pad

Agree with Jim, Ive used a product called zip strip in the past, very similar I believe.

Once polished up, did you add a new clear coat? That looks great.

Maybe not the best picture but we successfully removed the clear coat from all 5 tires yesterday using the metal stripper, I have to say the results are fantastic. Also cool to find out I have the nice '81 15x8 rims, was not expecting that.

Nevertheless, thanks for the information!

My OEM chromes cleaned up well, but I have pin points of rust that popped back up. Guessing there are tiny pits in the chrome. Anyone find a way to keep these at bay? The wheels look good enough to make me happy, but I'd like to keep them from rusting any more. Thought about clear coat but won't the pits just rust underneath the clear?
