after the last few weeks of disassembling of the good parts from the bad frame, i started to blast them clean. geesh what a pain! getting down to good metal underneath the layers of dirt, mud, crud and rust was a chore.
everything is getting a coat of etching primer and rustoleum glossy black paint. the things i have completed look nice.

when the small parts are done and the minor frame repair is complete( rear shackle area) i will be blasting it down too and painting.

i will get pics after i remember to bring the camera to the garage.

Ah, I remember those days. I just completed my CJ5 and added up the receipts and felt nauseous !! I have over $17K in mine. Just a suggestion, you may want to find someone local who does powdercoating. I took every small part I had to him and he bead blasted and powdercoated them (several different finishes) all for around $300 total. They look awesome and powdercoating is much more durable/ chip resistant than paint. I even took my frame back to him and got it blasted and powdercoated chassis black for $500 . Looks nice.

Just a suggestion.

i dont know that i will go the powder coating route. i think i will just sand blast and primer and use rustoleum industrial black paint. i have used it before on the YJ and it worked out nicely for me.
