i may have posted this earlier at wrong place. i'm struggling with how to fix rusted out wheel well immediately at base behind roll bar area, and also rust around the roll bar base. how would i fix this correctly? don't know where to go. can i buy replacement component? weld in steel to fix the entire area? also, since the jeep has original paint, i'd like to fix it correctly and repaint back to original. to deal with long term, should i remove theentire tub to do this? you can tell i'm a complete novice. thanks:huh:

Can you remove the rollbar? It will be easy to see rust spots. Jay at Jeepsalvage in statsboro Georgia may have patch pieces to replace metal. Good guy. Take pics and post.

The section under the rollbar is a replaceable part and can be ordered from Classic Enterprise. There are about a dozen spot welds holding it in place which need to be ground out, the spot weld the new panel in place.

Did one when we had the body off. Only took about 1 hour to remove the old and 5 minutes to install the new.

It would be much easier to do with the tub off, but it is doable with the tub on. Remove the rollbar, cut out most of the panel giving access to the spot welds for grinding. The hardest part is going to be reaching up under neath to spot weld the new piece in, but a good welder can do the job.
