Starting on restoration of 1981 Scrambler in Spain....

OK; near-finished the dissasambling job...

Next step is the rear of the body, some more tubes and wires and then to the paint shop....

I think this Scrambler left the factory in black color with tan interior, because is the first paint layer that I've find.
I can't find a trim decoder for Scramblers. I took a pic yesterday of trim tag and if there is somebody that could help, give me link or so to decode, will be so appreciated:

Hello again: OK, the Jeep is now in assembling proccess...
I received it from the paint shop recently and yesterday the other shop, for fiber works, returns me the top finished.
Soon I'll post a lot of pictures of proccess, but now I leave a few...0ed38c41-ed3b-4038-a15d-9bfc9b6cc72f.jpg6bdc4bc6-c116-4d4c-af1f-7c0ff53b8d4f.jpg7bad3804-4c13-4dda-9e91-8d484188b565.jpg04069c4d-a9be-4d63-99a8-3312e11e1ba7.jpg17.jpgcbeff595-5308-404f-a716-143d173a9326.jpg

Also I'm very close to finish the engine/trans swap. Only small details are needed to be finished, but the set is all in its place.
I install the new Wrangler power steering box too, because the stock unit was mechanical.

Also, following the advice of users of this forum (thank you), I've installed a new brake configuration: in addition to a new set of front discs rotors, Wrangler YJ booster bracket, 1988 S10 9" dual diaphragm brake booster, 1980 FSJ 1-1/8" master cylinder and a home made pedal rod extension.
Suspenssion has been renewed with a 2,5" kit from Pro-Com, also 1.5" body lift is added too, just to clear a set of 33 12,5R15 tires.

Good morning. I'm still looking for the diesel wiring diagram...

Meanwhile, am finishing a lot of small detalis, exhaust, spare tire carrier (I sent it whit a lot of other small pieces, to paint it by electrostatic painting, to asure a long lasting finish), rear lights, brakes, all hoses, new fuel lines, etc.... Also the winch plate.

Monday I will start and test the engine setup.... 😬😬

Good morning... OK the Jeep its almost ready!!! Only minor detalis are waiting for me, like interior, rollbar, front bumper and rigth fender. The side woodrails will arrive me soon too...
I have been a lot of time trying to adapt the XJ generator but I couldn't. Somebody tells me that it's essential the ECU to make it work; then I'm modifying the 4.0 gen. brackets to fit the ISUZU engine generator. Meanwhile, I make the first test at outside, moving it by itself... 35.jpg

This was the first test...

The hydraulic clutch, using provided CJ pump and TJ slave cylinder, has been fantastic. The initial brake feel is not so good, I think that pobably have to bleed it a little more and, once the new pads, rotors and rear brakes have a few miles, sure will be better.
The hole on the fender is because here (Spain) we have the obligation to put the turn lights there (UGLY!). I will put a led lights in place of the horrible European style.
Oh, these are not its wheels... I'm waiting for the paint shop to have painted the rims and then I will put a fresh set of 33". The diff ratio is 4.10.

Good morning. Last saturday we test the car on the street... very good. A little hard suspenssion feel, nothing really odd... Very good engine-trans-final ratio response, of course, still without its final wheels and tires (soon I will have it all). About the brakes: even with all new parts, the feeling is better than mine (stock)!!36.jpg
Only the winch aren't work (the owner bought it used and seems to me that never tested it...), but I think it could be a solenoid problem.

Next step: roll bar and home-made bulkhead. Today need to find a woodshop to make the wood rails too (will take advantage to make mine too!). We are preparing a set of vinyl scripts and decoration like original ones, but with a personal touch of color..... Once I have mounted its tires, will take good pics on the field to show the final look. Also, the Jeep owner chose a new front bumper too, we will have it here soon. It's important to say that this is the stock bumper, powder-painted, and we preserve its curved corners made of the same steel than bumper.

The front looks sharp. I like the 2 styles of lights with the red on the winch popping. The unusual spot for the emblem works for me along with the color of the whole rig. Really thoughtful work. Great job!

As you can see, these wood rails are not identical to stock. We went to give it a little particularr touch, usinga very hard tropical wood, and "Scrambler" script laser engraved. I don't like the stock position of bolts, at front in the middle of the plain wood, and at the rear one of them over the vinyl stripe. I move it a little up and, hiding it at front inside the wood's groove with a black Allen conical head bolts.

In the same line of personal touch, I made a pair of wood rails supports with two diferent kinds of wood, to give them more prominence...

I hope you enjoyed the process and that you like the result....
If anyone wants more photos, please say so.
