It's time to swap out the T-5 for the TF-999 I picked up a while back.
The T-5 and Dana 300 are out and now it's time to clean stuff up and replace the gaskets on the Dana 300.
Looks like the front seal on the T-5 had a little leak and some of the clutch linkage was pretty worn.102450895_636630613868227_7197396746237750706_n.jpg102838779_673783663473393_8397610177914006539_n.jpg103264992_560226664693431_1499336889228437690_n.jpg102956751_546588632894684_7719975789277322919_n.jpg101663236_539834956698853_6711683194438959805_n.jpg

Post lots of pics and details please! I'm planning on eventually swapping a TF999 into my T176 equipped CJ, and swapping that T176 in place of my T5 in my other Jeep, so would love to see what all is involved. I have a pretty good idea, but pics and build threads always help!

What do you plan to use to shift the auto?

I'll try to take some more pics.

This is a good time to switch to a hydraulic clutch. I did when replacing my T-5 with an AX15, and I'm really glad I did. Got help from Novak.

I planned on doing the same swap. But now that I am putting in the 4.0, I am using the aw4 that came with it. Now I have 4 transmissions and 3 engines (including my son’s 350) in my garage/ shed. My wife calls it Sanford and Son.

If I was going to stick with a manual I probably would.
The TF-999 is in and running great. It's much more enjoyable for the around town stop and go driving.

The swap is finished and so far is running great. Before the tranny swap I switched out the weber carb for the Howell TBI and also put in a D.U.I. distributor. Those both really help with performance. I think my timing chain may have a little play and needs to be replaced though, I'm getting a little engine ping under load going up hill over 2300RPM. Checked the timing and made a few changes, I'll see if that helps for now. Really happy with the change so far.

I would like to do this to my CJ8. I currently have the sr4 tranny and have to hold it in 4th gear. Was the swap pretty easy? Did you have to order new drivelines? Would love some advice.

Swapping with the TF-999 made things easier. I believe your SR4 is the same length as my T-5.
I was able to use the same unmodified driveshafts.
I used a Lokar shifter and Lokar kick down cable. I removed the clutch pedal and kept the existing pedal assembly.
You will need the flex plate and crank bolts and a flex plate reinforcement ring.
I also had a radiator with plugs for auto transmission coolant lines and used lines from the donor transmission.
The skid plate and transmission mounts worked with minor adjustments.
You will also need the automatic solenoid.
It was a good swap and I like the change. You might want to verify your axle ratio to see how the change in gearing will effect the change in gearing with the 999.
