Dear Jambo Owners and Enthusiasts –
I am pleased to send you the April 2017 update of The Jambo Registry (
www.82jambo.com).
A lot was happening at The Jambo Registry in April. We added two more Confirmed Jambos and made many site updates. In addition, we posted pictures of Jambo #0152’s restoration. And, we have important information regarding paint. We summarize all of this below.
Marchal Fog Light Covers:
We wanted to let you know that CandlePower, which owns the Marchal trademark, has brought the Marchal 850/859 fog light (stone) covers back into production! They are for sale on eBay (
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Product...ash=item1ec3fc9dc5:g:nyUAAOSwax5Y0op6&vxp=mtr) for $99 per set of two. That is one-third the price I paid for my NOS covers. The pictures I have posted of #0152 shows these new covers on my Jambo (
http://www.82jambo.com/jambo0152.htm). I understand from CandlePower that the supply of covers is very limited and they will not be produced again. Better grab a couple of sets. Use these for driving around and save or originals in a safe place.
Confirmed Jambos:
Here are the new Confirmed Jambos

We now have 153 confirmed Jambos. Welcome to our new owners!
Important Information Regarding Paint Color
If you are planning to restore your Jambo, you need to read our detailed study about matching Topaz Gold Metallic paint (
http://www.82jambo.com/82_Jambo_Parts_Paint.html). You cannot just walk into the paint store and order AMC/Jeep 2H. The manufacturer matters! Most off-the-shelf 2H formulas are much too gold. The formulas have drifted over 35 years. We have studied this in detail and have named BASF Limco 2H as the official Topaz Gold Metallic repaint color of The Jambo Registry.
We are also building a restoration page:

Jambo #0152 Restoration:
After much work and way too much $, we are pleased to post updated pictures regarding #0152 (
http://www.82jambo.com/jambo0152.htm). This shows our nearly complete restoration project! It also shows the BASF Limco 2H paint in action and compares it to an NOS tire cover. As you will see, the NOS tire cover looks very different than the old faded tire covers that some of us have.
The Jambo Jamboree:
As a reminder, we have arranged a gathering of Jambo owners on the Rubicon trail!! This is a once-in-a-lifetime epic event! Imagine a lineup of 10-20 Jambos! That would be the largest gathering since they left the factory in 1982. Please see this page for details:
http://www.82jambo.com/82_Jambo_Jamboree.html
We have five confirmed Jambo owners for the 2017 Jambo Jamboree:
Jambo #0152, Eric Bickel (Austin, TX)
Jambo #0180, Heath Aggen (Tyler, TX)
Jambo #0250, Phil Eichler (Whidbey Island, WA)
Jambo #0355, Daniel C'deBaca (Corrales, NM)
Jambo #0646, Joseph Para (Castro Valley, CA)
We also have a few owners that are likely to come. It is getting close! Please try to arrange your plans to join us!
Thanks guys!! And, I hope you will join us on the Rubicon in July 2017!
Jamin’ On,
Eric
