I had a vacuum leak around my carb. I went out and got some new gasket material and made some new gaskets. I put it together and it purred perfectly.

Now, about 25 miles later, it is acting up again. I squirted carb cleaner and it is leaking in about the same place.

I have a 4.0 L head and a clifford 4-barrel manifold with a clifford adapter plate on it, with a Weber carb. Is there a special way to tighten this stuff down or torque it? Am I supposed to use anything on the gasket? I put on a red tack dressing that is designed to hold it in place when assembling. Did I make a mistake in using it?

Please help me out here...I am using this on the 4th to drag a friends boat.

take everything back off-take your gaskets, including the one under your adapter and go to your local parts house and buy a can of copper coating-if your gasket doesn't come off in one piece or is torn then make new ones and spary them with two good coats of copper spray and let them set up between coats-resnug everything and also check your Header/intake bolts to make sure they are snug-this should fix your trouble-cooper expands when heated-JC:p

Have you had any luck in fixing your trouble?-JC:p
