Scramblin 4 Fun
Last week I purchased a 1985 Scrambler with a 258. It is in really great shape. I am replacing all hoses, filters, degreasing, etc, and have a few questions.
1. Under the hood, on the passenger side, right in front of the battery is a braket of some sort mounted on the wheel well. It is a rectangle flat piece of metal with a swing away bracket at the top of it. Does anyone know what this is for?
2. On top of the windshield washer fluid reservoir, there is a hose missing. Does anyone know where this hose should go? I don't know if it is an overflow, or a hose from somewhere to keep pressure in the system.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

first, nice pic, sweet looking scrambler.
second, what is on the passenger side is the location for the jack that should be there.

If it looks like your winsheld washer looks like it is missing a hose it could b e the radiator over flow. Both are in the same general location. Check to make sure you have your radiator over flow conected. it should be the forard most of the 2 resivors.

The passenger side bracket is for the jack and lug nut wrench. The washer reservoir on my 82 CJ-8 looks like there is supposed to be a hose on top, but it works fine as it is (without it), maybe its just a vent. I don't have an overflow reservoir on the radiator, the overflow hose mounts down the side of the radiator and thats it.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. The jack that I am missing would not work with the lift anyway, and I will check to see if the washer fluid reservoir works once I get the battery in. Take it easy.
