Now that the 401 is installed and almost ready to fire up, I’m trying to clean up the wiring and could use some ideas. If you’ve got pics of your engine bay with nice, neat wiring, post them up! Always cool to see how others route stuff and keep it looking clean.

Thanks!

I have a lot of accessories and below is a shot of how I wired them to the passenger fender. Under the batteries is a Redarc BCDC1225D DC to DC charge controller. It manages the charge on the auxiliary battery (left side in pic) independent from the starter battery. IT also has a solar input for when I am camped. Everything except the starter, winch and KC bumper lights are powered by the accessory battery.

I have a 1987 Chevy 350 TBI V8 and used a Howell harness for the engine and Painless harness for the rest of the Jeep.

Very nice work! I like the idea of the red wire loom to protect the positive battery and starter cables.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who posted engine bay wiring pictures. The 401 is finally in and running strong! I got the first 100 break-in miles on it this week. I've still got a few minor wiring adjustments to finish, but I had to get it mobile for a Golden Trout fishing trip next week. Will be driving 60 miles of moderate off road up to the South Fork of the Kern River.
Good area to break the 401 in.

Thanks again!
