@Grendel What are those Odyssey battery part numbers? I have an old Wrangler power products dual battery tray from the late 90's. It was designed for dual Optima 34/78's. I looked and didn't find any Odyssey models the same size.

What tray are you using? Mine has a little extra room but didn't seem like it would fit any Odyssey models.

I have not had issues with my Optima's (knock on wood...) I have a Red Top in my wife's YJ that is 7 years old. She is hard on batteries as she leaves stuff on, doors open etc. And I have two yellow tops in my 1999 F350 PowerStroke diesel. Both are 8 years old.

My Scrambler has two yellow tops that are 3-years old. The starter, winch and KC LED lights are wired to the main battery and everything else is wired to the second battery. It gets hammered by my refrigerator, all my USB outlets charging all kinds of things, stereo with the separate amp, camp lights etc. The second battery is charged very efficiently with the Redarc BCDC1225D separate from the starter battery. I hammer the battery really low and the Redarc charges it with an AGM specific charge pattern and then cuts it off when at its peak. I can monitor both batteries separately. I have two 100-watt foldable solar panels that connect to the Redarc when I'm camped for more than an overnight trip.

If I have trouble with my Optima's, it will be nice to have a Odyssey backup that fits my tray.

What i REALLY want is a rugged enough Lithium battery for my second battery. The yellow top has a 55 amp hour rating - being AGM maybe 45-50 are usable. Dakota Lithium makes a 135 amp hour battery that would fit that they say can live safely in an engine compartment. I kind of doubt that and they are $900.00 on sale. It doesn't need to crank my engine or run the winch. Just power all the 12V stuff. That would provide so much more power, I would hardly ever need the solar panels.

I use Deka AGM, made in the USA and I have had really good life out of then. I even use them for my Truck camper house batteries. They have been my go to for years now. Way less issues than any other brand I have ever used. I get them form a auto shop/store that does commercial truck/vehicle maintenance as well and that is the only brand he will use. When I have had to replace them even he has been surprised how long hey have been in my vehicles!
