whats the deal with door hinges

Almost everywhere I look I find only stainless door and tailgate hinges? Doesn't anyone make OEM replacement hinges that are not stainless. My hinges are froze up, worn, broken or bent and the Scambler is ready for paint!!

The S/S replacement hinges are exact replacement except for the metal itself.
Why would you not want to use S/S and paint them ?

I,ve been told that the paint material doesn't bond as well to the stainless.

That would be when they are polished.

If you take some sand paper and rough them up a bit then there should be no problem. And for extra care you could use an echant primer before painting them and that would make double sure that the end paint would stick.

Then with the stainless you would not have to worry about rusting again.

Quadratec has black replacement hinges.

I'm replacing my hinges with Stainless Steel, if you want my originals let me know at mike5krnr@yahoo.com and we can work something out. I have full door hinges and 1/2 door Wrangler hinges. I'm switching all my hinges and related stuff to stainless. Mike

Me Again,

Take the S/S and have it sand blasted, wash it with thinner, prime it with NAPA DuPont Etching Primer and paint with DuPont Paint.
Works for me.

Main thing to remember is to keep the primer and paint the same manufacturer.
