Cold down here in Dixie

Been a cold winter down here in South Carolina. Decided I'd better get the jeep out and run it because it's been sitting in garage now for several weeks and hasn't been started.

Didn't start, dead battery. pushed it out of the garage, jumped it with the truck. Drove it for about 20 minutes, seems to be ok, alternator charging and battery seemed to hold a charge.

I thought I left this crap behind when I moved from WV to SC 20 years ago :( At least I wasn't out jump starting my DD night before work like back in the old days when I was in high school

Last night our garage door was left open, this morning we had no hot water coming out of the faucets. After a few hours of running a space heater and turning the temp up throughout the house we had flow again. Luckily no pipes split and we still made it to church on time!:woot:

Congrats. That could have been a lot worse.

My CJ surely did not like the 8 degrees when I started it up to warm up before work this morning. Yikes. I am thinking that the Blazer blower upgrade just got higher on the to do list. Hy hands were still frozen after the 45 minute commute.

-10 this morning when I got up... the old Dodge Diesel was slow, but it turned over and fired up... if I had to take the CJ this morning, it would have been really cold!

We're just a little warmer on the Shore, but that Christmas cold spell convinced me to upgrade. Very straightforward and reasonably priced and WORTH EVERY PENNY! Consider the heater core while your at it unless you're sure it's good.

I 've got tee-shirt comfort by the end of my 15 minute commute.

Until then, close the air intake and open with passenger vent door (inline cable adjusted) for recirculated heated air. It's worth 10 degrees or more to NOT suck in the ambient air.

The Blazer upgrade is definately worth it! With the half top on it will run you out if you leave it on for too long.

I have been convinced.

Now I just need to find the time. And borrow the garage space from my wife. She is usually good about it as long as her car goes back in over night. So as long as my planning is done I should be good.

I'd offer my garage and aid, but the drive here and back would be longer than the work time to do the job.

Instead, I'll make the offer for a summer weekend Scramble to the beach. I think I'll have to try and organize an Assateague Scramble for the VA/MD folk in general next summer. It'll boggle the "usual suspects" we hang with and the normal beach visitors as well!

I would be up for that. Sounds like fun.
