That's the equivalent of listing any CJ for $150,000. An easy four times more than even the best ones are worth.
 
But at least a whole CJ won't disintegrate into pieces as it rolls down the road........er well most won't anyway :rolleyes:
 
I have seen some crazy prices people put on their parts. On ebay and on here. I called it greedy and was told it was demand.

If you start with a high price that is one thing. But to pull an auction so you can raise the starting price by 500%, well....

Still got the original Michelin 205's that came on the Scrambler in the shop. They don't have any dry rot, but have been stored indoors off the Jeep since around 1986-87
 
When I went to the Spring Mountain ZR1 Corvette driving school we had a class on tires. Short version...
Life expectancy on tires is 5 years, on the car or stored in a climate control building. I went to buy two Michelin tires for my motor home about 6 months ago. When I finally found two they had already been sitting on the shelf almost 3 years. No way. Look at the "born on" date. So I have to ask you. Do you value your life more than a set of tires? Do you value your children's life more than a set of tires?

Eh, would I BUY two new tires that were 3 years old? Nope. I do check the dates on new tires when I buy them.

Would I run tires over 5 years old? Absolutely IF they didn't show any cracking or rot, and that's assuming they are a reasonable age. I'm not driving on 20+ year old tires regardless of what they look like, but I have no qualms about running my 10 year old BFG MT's that have about 5K miles on them and no signs of age. Of course, I'm normally not exceeding 45 MPH with them so not like I'm running around at high speeds.

Kinda like food expiration dates. If it looks ok, smells ok, I'm gonna eat it. I don't toss food or tires simply because the magical "replace at this time" date has been passed.

If we're gonna get into the "how much do you value your life" angle then I'd say we'd all be driving Volvos instead of top heavy, rollover prone Jeeps.

If we valued our lives like that analogy , we wouldn't drive at all. :crazy: I am more afraid of the teenager driving said Volvo and texting and crossing the yellow line and killing me in my non - airbag equipped death trap CJ.
 
I'd say these (or any of the old, original OEM tires) are being offered and intended for collector/restoration purist/display only. Not for daily driving.
 
The best is when I seen someone eat noodles with chopsticks in a import manual car.. I stayed away from that guy.. 👌

Ha, I know what you mean.

My CJ's are put around town and the farm vehicles. Now if I had something like a Vette or other performance street car, then yeah, I wouldn't want to risk a tire heating up and blowing out.

The OEM 205's that came on the Scrambler have been designated as the little tires I use to roll my extra axles around on in the yard. I might use the puttering around town, but not at anything approaching highway speeds.

Dad wanted to use them for trailer tires. I talked him out of that. Putting a heavy load on old tires is a bad idea.
