Yes everything I've read agrees with this. Some people who can build their own engines refuse to do axle work. Have you considered just leaving the 273 and handling it later?

To do that I would need to remove both axles (complete) and brakes again. Not a huge deal. Just a pain. And it will be resolved before I hit any trails.

So today I took the hood off. Drained the radiator. Disconnected some wires and marked the ones I felt I needed to remember. Spent a lot of time determining the wiring.
Then I removed the bolts holding the fenders on. Two of the four on each side came out nicely. The lower two on each side snapped. Have I said that I hate rust?
The fenders and grill (one unit) are ready to move somewhere. Just not sure where yet. And I need an extra set of hands to help me move them. Maybe tonight after I take my daughter to the airport. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. We will see.

I know how fortunate I am to have a large shop with all the ease it makes. But I still admire guys who do the same thing with less space. I don't have that type of determination. You're the hero's.
P.S. Here it is Jan 9 and I still haven't needed heat yet.

That's probably close. I'm thinking 1800-1900 at 75. I would like for it to still have some killer acceleration. I'll re gear as needed.

Bust since I am moving the engine to the new chassis, I assume it will be easier with the engine exposed on the new chassis rather than still on the old one with the body still there. But as stated, never done it so......
