Hard top restoration question

I have an old worn scrambler hard top. I'm thinking of painting it myself. How hard is this? I'm thinking of a medium tan like buckskin or saddle. Do you know of any factory tan colors that are on the medium-dark side? Thanks.

I repainted the top on my red Scrambler, well rather I had it redone at a local body shop that specialized in fiberglass. They had to add some texture prior to painting but it came out great. I think I paid $200...? Not a bad deal in my opinion.
 
You guys kill me with these prices. Can't get anything close to that in Maryland. I can't imagine anything less than $500. Maybe in PA or VA it might be cheaper.

Agree. At least $500 here, and that's if you bring it in prepped and primed!
 
How did they add the texture. Mine has so much paint it was filled completely. Then I sanded it and sanded into the texture.

I don't recall but it sprayed on with a gun similar to a drywall texture application. Ask your fiberglass guys, I am sure they can point you in the right direction.
