My guess is a wastegate that would not bleed off the boost pressure fast enough so it beats on the throttle blade and shaft. With enough cycles, fortunately the shaft failed before the turbo impeller imploded. The screw was just about to fall out too. We got lucky on this one-

Running a mounting screw into the side of a custom made Ron Davis radiator is risky business. Unfortunately this time the body shop failed mounting an upper condenser bracket and poked a hole in this $2000 radiator and they do not repair them either....ouch

Wow, that would hurt. If they won't repair can a capable welder or radiator shop weld it?

The tube is damaged so it might be a slight possibility to inject epoxy into that tube and seal it up. You might luck out and seal it up or you might just ruin it too...

If it was mine and I did the screw up I would try to get fixed. But if I did work on someones vehicle I couldn't blame them for wanting a new one.

^^^Exactly..... If it were mine and I paid for the radiator, somebody would be replacing it...

I had my work truck on wet pavement and slid (actually just touched) the bumper of a brand new chevy cobalt. The plastic bumper guard on the truck (on either side of the plate) left a slight rub mark on the bottom of their rear bumper. Cost $1,000. to do a recoat of the clear protector that they had the car shot with (according to them). Smudge was the size of a nickle and could have been buffed out (never went through clear coat). I paid them the $1,000. and told them if it were mine I wouldn't have them re-shoot the bumper, but would put the cash away for when there is real damage. If you go shopping, give it a few months and you'll have larger dings than that to worry about. I did it, I paid for it. I fully understand someone wanting the new radiator rather than loosing some of the effectiveness of the radiator with a repair.

Yes , well said ! back several years ago while a 1996 XJ sport was my DD, It got hit by a golf ball while parked at the halfway house restaurant here in NJ where a public road runs through the middle of a 18 hole golf course. (I hate golf and have never swung a club but the lunch specials were good) to my amazement the trustworthy golf dude left a note on my windshield and my right front fender awarded me $650 cash for a Cherokee I paid $1000 for just a year prior. The fender required a full repaint and a blend into the door according to the estimate , but that cash was used for CJ parts and beer and the dent still remains. .... [emoji1303]

I'm honest. Years ago with my first work truck I had a lady back into he rear quarter of the pick up bed, honest mistake. I was replacing the bed with a bed that I was building (flat bed). It was her lucky day, since I was replacing the bed with a flat bed I didn't ask for any money. Still don't know if I got any good Karma off of it.

Back when it was an original made in USA AMC jeep part it was kinda good and more than 50 percent reliable [emoji6]

This fail just showed up. This Mustang just drove up here with a hole in the oil filter from the sway bar rubbing on it. He's one lucky guy-

Wow! How are you going to prevent that from happening again? Filter relocation or sway bar mod?
